IN KIND DONATIONS OF GOODS: The Red Cross is unable to accept small, individual donations or collections of items such as clothing, food or cleaning supplies. The cost to sort, package and distribute these types of donations to disaster victims is almost always greater than the cost of purchasing the items locally, and it is logistically impossible to distribute a wide variety of individual items in a meaningful way. While the Red Cross cannot accept the donation of an individual item, you can support the Red Cross through the sale of personal items, such as in a garage sale or yard sale or support your community by donating these items to an organization that is equipped to put them to the best possible local use.

Where does my money go?
Local Chapter – Funds everyday chapter operations, emergency preparedness programs, health and safety training, services to the armed forces, and local disaster and emergency relief in our nine county service area.
National Disaster Relief Fund – Help people affected by disasters across the country by donating to the Disaster Relief Fund. On those rare occasions when donations exceed Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters.
International Response Fund – A contribution to the IRF will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need around the world, such as those affected by the Haiti earthquake.
The American Red Cross honors donor intent. If you wish to designate the gift to a particular disaster relief operation, please do so at the time the gift is made.
