MARCH IS RED CROSS MONTH
And we're making sure that March 2009 is the biggest Red Cross month ever! We are launching fun new initiatives, exciting free entertainment opportunities, and focusing on educating the public as never before. And we would love your help. Read all about the projected programs in this March At A Glance document. We would love to have volunteers to sign up for programs as key members of the planning and execution process. RESTAURANTS FOR RELIEF	RESTAURANTS FOR RELIEF OFFICIAL PAGE One easy, great way to get involved is through RESTAURANTS FOR RELIEF. Now in its 3rd consecutive year, Restaurants for Relief is a unique fundraiser for RC during the month of March. We invite restaurants in the 9 counties to donate a portion of sales on the event date of their choosing to the American Red Cross of Central Texas, and we provide PR promotion through media relations, including print, television and radio and other promotions. OF CENTRAL TEXAS	HEROES OFFICIAL PAGE Heroes of Central Texas is an opportunity for the American Red Cross of Central Texas and our community partners to formally honor and recognize the selfless deeds of our friends and neighbors. READ MORE! Deadline to submit nominations: February 1. This year, we are honoring Judge Jeanne Meurer as our Lady Bird Johnson Humanitarian Award recipient for her amazing work in juvenile justice at an award dinner at Benihana on March 25. We need the community's help because we also want to honor two or three more people who have done extraordinary things this past year. ONLINE AUCTION	AUCTION OFFICIAL PAGE This year, we're holding an ONLINE AUCTION! We're leveraging the awesome power of eBay to get the word out and attract much more publicity and bidders to both the American Red Cross of Central Texas and to our donors. All auction items are available to view by anyone and everyone visiting eBay, and eBay users can search for the Giving Works Ribbon when they shop! Plus Giving Works items close with 40% higher prices, sell 50% more often, attract 20% more bids! It's a win-win! We're asking local merchants, restaurants, service providers and private citizens to donate a fabulous auction item. Past auctions have featured a remarkable array of items and services, like a quail hunt, original artwork, designer jewelry, an autographed Rose Bowl football, airline tickets, restaurant certificates and personal services.
